The Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism (FEET) recently hosted the graduation ceremony for the 13 students of the Double Degree in Business Administration and Tourism. The event marked the culmination of an important academic journey and celebrated the achievements of a cohort whose university experience was shaped by both resilience and determination.
The ceremony was attended by the Rector of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Lluis Serra Majén, the Dean of FEET, Mª Victoria Ruiz Mallorquí, the Vice-Dean responsible for the Degree in Business Administration and Management, Mª Gracia García Soto and the Vice-Dean for Communication, Students and Culture, Nancy Dávila Cárdenes, who took part in the presentation of the graduation certificates.
The graduates were also accompanied by their academic sponsors, Mª José Miranda Martel and Jose Luis Ballesteros Rodríguez. The Vice-Dean of the Official Association of Economists of Las Palmas, Jonathan Márquez Lasso, members of the faculty, as well as family members and friends who shared this special occasion with them.
Throughout the event, the graduates’ hard work, perseverance and commitment were highlighted as key elements of their academic success. Speakers emphasized the value of a multidisciplinary education that integrates expertise in business management and tourism, preparing graduates to meet the challenges of an increasingly dynamic, global professional environment.
One of the most moving moments of the ceremony was the screening of a video produced by the students themselves, reflecting on some of the most memorable experiences of their university years. The video traced their journey from their first days at the University in 2021, when face masks were still required in classrooms, to the successful completion of their studies. It also featured personal testimonies from students originating from the non-capital islands, who spoke about the additional challenges of studying away from home and the frequent journeys by boat or plane required to maintain close ties with their families. These reflections highlighted the dedication, sacrifice and resilience that characterized this graduating class and brought an emotional close to a ceremony filled with pride, gratitude and optimism for the future.
