INFORMATION SESSION ON THE DEGREE IN ECONOMICS

On 27 January 2026, the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism welcomed students from several secondary schools in Gran Canaria, who had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the Degree in Economics.

During the session, students learned what economists do through a series of talks delivered by faculty members, engaged in discussions with current degree students, and participated in the final round of the Economics Competition, which had attracted more than 300 students.

This year’s winners were Álvaro Santana (1st prize, IES Cruce de Arinaga), Sofía Rodríguez (2nd prize, IES Casas Nuevas), and Álvaro Ramírez (1st prize, IES Casas Nuevas).

The Faculty would like to thank the teachers and students from the participating schools, as well as Professor Juan Luis Jiménez from the Department of Applied Economic Analysis, for his initiative in organising the event.

ACADEMIC GUIDANCE IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS

At the same time, the Vice-Deans responsible for the degrees in Business Administration and Management, together with the Vice-Dean for Tourism, are visiting secondary schools to present the Faculty’s academic programmes and support students in their university choices.

These information sessions introduce the degrees in Business Administration and Management, Economics, and Tourism, as well as the related double degrees, and explain career opportunities and academic pathways to help students make informed decisions aligned with their interests.

Within this framework, the Faculty participated on 11 February 2026 in the 15th Guidance Days organised by Colegio Arenas Sur and carried out its first visit on 21 January 2026 to IES Cruce de Arinaga.
