The ULPGC, at the initiative of the Faculty of Economic, Business and Tourism, has entered into an agreement with the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF), enabling our students to apply for scholarships to undertake internships at this important institution.

Under this agreement, students will be eligible to apply for these internships during the 2026–2027 academic year.

What is AIReF?

AIReF is the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility. Its purpose is to safeguard the sustainability of public finances to ensure economic growth and the well-being of Spanish society in the medium and long term. Its mission is to ensure effective compliance by Public Administrations with the principle of budgetary stability set out in Article 135 of the Constitution, through the continuous evaluation of the budgetary cycle and public debt, and the analysis of economic forecasts. In 2021, it incorporated public spending evaluation as one of its permanent functions to contribute to the development of more effective and efficient policies for the benefit of citizens.

Participation in this program represents an exceptional opportunity for students, as they will be able to gain first-hand insight into and contribute to the achievement of AIReF’s objectives, apply the knowledge acquired during their undergraduate and/or postgraduate studies, and develop new professional skills.

Requirements:

a) Applicants must be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) obtained within the last two years and remain enrolled in a university or academic training programme; or be enrolled in an official Master’s or PhD programme in Economics or related fields relevant to AIReF’s activities; or, having obtained a Master’s or PhD degree within the last three years, remain enrolled in a university or academic training programme.

b) Applicants must not fall under any of the circumstances set out in Article 13.2 of Law 38/2003 of 17 November, General Law on Subsidies.

These requirements must be met throughout the scholarship period (i.e., during the 2026–2027 academic year).

Duration and location of the internship:

The scholarships will last twelve months, under the modality specified in each profile. Currently, the working arrangement at AIReF consists of three in-person days at its Madrid headquarters and two days of remote work, subject to service needs and applicable regulations.

The starting date is expected to be September 2026.
