40 Years of Business Leadership: Reflections by Anil Partap Harjani at the FEET

The Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism (FEET) hosted, on April 27th, in its Assembly Hall, a meeting with businessman Anil Partap Harjani, which was recorded for the Empresarios Canarios podcast.

During his talk, Anil Partap shared his professional and personal experiences with students after more than four decades of business leadership, highlighting the opportunities the Canary Islands offer for developing internationally oriented business projects. In this regard, he emphasized that Spain, especially the Canary Islands, offers an exceptional environment for living, launching new ventures, and developing initiatives with global reach.

Throughout the session, the businessman outlined some of the principles that have guided his professional development, including:

  • The importance of values, particularly honesty and integrity, is the foundation of any solid business project.
  • The need to rely on specialized support teams in legal, tax, and financial fields, as well as the importance of business diversification.
  • Adaptability is an essential element for navigating constantly changing economic and social environments.

FEET would like to thank Anil Partap Harjani for his participation and generosity in sharing his experience and business vision with our students, offering an inspiring reflection on entrepreneurship and professional development from the Canary Islands to the world.

The full interview will soon be available on Empresarios Canarios’ social media channels.

Teaching Excellence in the DEFC: Recognition of the Work and Dedication of Its Faculty

The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has awarded the Department of Financial Economics and Accounting (DEFC) the “Departmental Teaching Excellence Award (2024/2025)” in the first edition of this institutional recognition.

As stated in the diploma received, this award recognizes departments that have achieved “a level significantly above the institutional average in the proportion of faculty members receiving outstanding evaluations (A and B), reflecting their commitment to teaching quality and the continuous improvement of their teaching practice.” It is therefore a distinction that acknowledges the collective effort of departments and the sustained commitment of their faculty to teaching excellence.

Representing the entire DEFC teaching staff, the Head of the Department, Jerónimo Pérez Alemán, received the award yesterday at the hands of the Rector of the ULPGC, Lluís Serra Majem.

We would like to congratulate all DEFC faculty members for their work, dedication, and commitment to teaching, whose efforts have made this well-deserved distinction possible.
