XVII ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS OLYMPIAD. PROVINCIAL PHASE
The Provincial Phase of the XVII Economics Olympiad was held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The exams for students from Gran Canaria took place at the Faculty of Economics, Business, and Tourism (Tafira University Campus). The exams took place at the Training and Conference Center for students from Fuerteventura and at the Lanzarote University School of Tourism (affiliated with the ULPGC) in Tahíche. A total of 116 students participated, of which 102 were from different schools in Gran Canaria, nine from Lanzarote, all from the Yaiza Secondary School, and five from Fuerteventura, all from the Gran Tarajal Secondary School. The organizing committee thanks the lecturers and teachers involved with the examination day organization, in particular María José Márquez Cerdeña, teacher of IES San Diego de Alcalá of Fuerteventura, and the lecturer Amós Farrujia Coello from Lanzarote University School of Tourism.
The test content meets the prioritized assessment criteria for the University Entrance Exam (PAU) subject “Business and Business Model Design.” Participants had a maximum of 90 minutes to complete the test, which consisted of a theoretical and practical section, multiple-choice questions, and numerical exercises.
The organizing committee for the provincial phase is chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Business, and Tourism of the ULPGC, Dr. María Victoria Ruiz Mallorquí. Its functions are to evaluate the tests, grade the exercises, rank the participants, and determine the three finalists who will participate in the national phase.
The finalists’ names will be announced on the Faculty of Economics, Business, and Tourism website in April.
National and International Phases
The XVI Spanish Economics Olympiad will be held on June 30 and July 1st and 2nd at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the University of Alicante. Three finalists from each of the participating universities will compete. The finalists will represent the Spanish Economics Olympiad Association at the International Economics Olympiad.
