Business Administration and Management students participate in the XXVI National Auditing Congress

TITLE: Business Administration and Management students participate in the XXVI National Auditing Congress

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Spain, through the president of its Territorial Group of Las Palmas Javier Álvarez Cabrera, invited third and fourth year students of the Business Administration Degree and their corresponding Double Degrees, to the XXVI National Auditing Congress, which was held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria under the motto “Auditing in the era of Artificial Intelligence”.

During the day held on November 21, 2024, students had the opportunity to listen to professionals from the world of auditing discuss the implications of AI in the business world, as well as the possible professional opportunities they can find in the auditing sector. They also had the opportunity to talk to professionals who live the day-to-day life of the profession and participated in group dynamics (escape room and team race) that tested their ability to work as a team.

The positive impact that this experience has had on the students fills us with satisfaction:

“Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to attend this Congress. I have become even more clear about my future professional career” (Álvaro Perdomo Herrera, student of the Double Degree in Business Administration and Law).
“It has been a very enriching experience that motivates us to continue studying and learning” (Claudia Manrique de Lara Rodríguez, GADE student)
“It has been an incredible experience and I have had a really good time. I have learned, enjoyed myself and met new people” (Christian Caballero Gil, GADE student)

This approach of the university to the business world has been possible thanks to the involvement of the professors Margarita Mesa and Sonia Granado, in charge of the organization of the students, and the collaboration of our colleague Aurora Rodríguez. Our thanks to our colleagues from the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism who teach third and fourth year GADE students for making it possible for students to attend the conference. Many thanks also to the ICJCE for awakening new professional interests among our students.

2024 Academic Ranking of World Universities

The 2024 Academic Ranking of World Universities has recently been published.

It should be noted that with regard to tourism research, the ULPGC is the first Spanish university in this category, out of a total of 13 Spanish universities that have managed to enter the ranking. It is followed by the University of Alicante (position 42), Valencia (51-75), Granada (76-100), Baleares (76-100) and Rovira i Virgili (76-100). It should be noted that only the first 200 universities worldwide are included in this ranking in the tourism category.

To give an idea of the achievement of the ULPGC in Tourism, it should be noted that only eight Spanish universities manage to be among the 50 best in the world in any discipline, such as Veterinary Medicine or Economics. Furthermore, in the 14 areas of Social Sciences (such as Economics, Law, Sociology, Psychology, Statistics or Business Administration), no Spanish university occupies such a prominent position as the ULPGC in Tourism-Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Congratulations to all the professors who have made this achievement possible.
