The Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (FEET-ULPGC) successfully hosted the 33rd EBEN Spain Conference from 20 to 22 May 2026. Held in the Canary Islands for the first time, the conference was organized under the theme “Purpose-Driven Organizations: Ethics and Trust in Times of Uncertainty.”
The event brought together researchers, academics, and experts from universities and institutions across Spain and abroad, fostering scientific discussion and academic exchange on the challenges and opportunities facing organizations in an increasingly uncertain environment.
The scientific and logistical organization of the conference was led by FEET faculty members and researchers, with the support of the Faculty Dean’s Office, demonstrating the Faculty’s strong commitment to advancing research and promoting academic collaboration in ethics, sustainability, and responsible management.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Juan Alberto Corbera, Vice-Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer at ULPGC; Dr. María Victoria Ruiz Mallorquí, Dean of FEET; Dr. Agustín Domingo Moratalla, President of EBEN Spain; Dr. Deybbi Cuéllar Molina, Chair of the Conference; and Dr. Francisco Javier Gutiérrez-Pérez, Vice-Chair of the Conference.
The academic program featured a Doctoral Colloquium, parallel scientific sessions, and keynote lectures delivered by two internationally renowned scholars: Prof. Dr. Arnold Bakker of Erasmus University Rotterdam and Prof. Dr. Domènec Melé of IESE Business School, University of Navarra. The conference also included the institutional panel discussion “Building Trust in Uncertain Times: Dialogue Among Institutions, Businesses and Citizens,” which provided a platform for reflection on the role of trust in contemporary society.
During the closing ceremony, the EBEN 2026 Best Paper Award, the Best Ongoing Doctoral Thesis Award, and the Best Ethics and Sustainability Paper Award were presented. In addition, Prof. Domènec Melé received the EBEN Spain Honorary Distinction in recognition of his outstanding academic career and significant contribution to the development of business ethics.
The conference concluded with acknowledgments to all participants, speakers, moderators, and members of the scientific and organizing committees whose dedication and collaboration made the event a success.
