A group of 34 third and fourth-year students of the Business Administration degree and their corresponding double degrees from the Faculty of Economics, Business, and Tourism have participated in the “Auditor for a Day” Conference, organized by the Las Palmas Territorial Group of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Spain. Its president, Javier Álvarez Cabrera, in collaboration with Margarita Mesa Mendoza and Sonia Granado Suárez, both professors of the Department of Financial Economics and Accounting, invited, for the second consecutive year, students from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to live for a day the professional experience of joining a work team of the auditing firms that participated in the Conference.
The activity began on the afternoon of Friday, January 24, when the students attended the headquarters of the Institute to receive a talk on the auditor’s role and the possible professional opportunities that this sector offers them. Each student was then assigned to an auditing firm, and on Monday, January 27, they visited the facilities of the assigned companies to experience “from within” what it means to work as an auditor. Once the session was over, the students’ comments undoubtedly show that this has been a very enriching experience for them, as it has given them a new vision of this possible professional career.
Thanks to the Territorial Group of Las Palmas of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Spain for once again counting on the FEET students, to Margarita Mesa and Sonia Granado for their collaboration in organizing the students, and to the faculty colleagues who have valued the realisation of this type of activity.
