Alba Ramírez and Leticia Calderín are two graduates of the ULPGC, specifically with a Double Degree in Industrial Organization Engineering and Business Administration and a Double Degree in Business Administration, respectively. Both have embarked on a promising project: the Ascenda Foundation.
They are convinced that Canarian students deserve broader access to opportunities, both in Spain and abroad, and that is why they founded Ascenda. Ascenda was born from the conviction they both share: Canarian talent is immense, but it is limited by geographical and, sometimes, sociocultural barriers.
Alba and Leticia have had extraordinary experiences locally—for example, doing internships at renowned companies in the Canary Islands—and abroad, studying or working in the United States, Paris, and the United Kingdom, among other destinations.
These experiences have made them realize that many students are unaware of the opportunities after university studies: Is a master’s degree the right path to achieve my goals? Which one should I apply for? What job will effectively boost my career? What options do I have outside the island?
They are embarking on the “Propulsa” program, the mentoring program they are launching this March.
In summary: • They will select 5 Canarian university students for the program. • For 12 months, they will offer +50 hours of personalized mentoring, Resource guidance, Support in applying for scholarships and Jobs, Workshops, Conferences, and networking opportunities with leaders in various fields (e.g., PhD students at Harvard, CEOs of MedTech, etc.)
