This year, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) is offering 5 scholarships for external internships lasting between 2 and 5 months, starting in June and ending before 16 November.

The Rural Campus Program is an initiative developed by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, in collaboration with the Ministry of Universities and the Spanish Public Universities. It allows university students enrolled in any official degree program to undertake academic internships in local administrations, institutions, organizations, or legally established companies located in rural areas facing depopulation problems, defined as municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.
The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), with the aim of supporting and promoting the employability of its students, includes among its strategies the promotion of initiatives to foster external academic internships. In this context, and under the agreement signed with the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge for the implementation of the Rural Campus University Internship Program in Rural Areas, ULPGC seeks to promote, encourage, and develop student internships in rural areas affected by depopulation.
This external internship program is aimed at students who meet the following requirements:
- Be a resident in Spain at the time of joining the host organization and maintain this status until the end of the internship.
- Be enrolled in an official Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program at ULPGC during the 2025–2026 academic year and maintain this status until the end of the internship.
- Have successfully completed at least 50% of the credits of the degree program in the case of Bachelor’s degrees.
- Not having undertaken these internships during the previous academic year, unless applying from a different degree program, and places have not been filled by new applicants.
- Meet the requirements to undertake external internships in accordance with Royal Decree 592/2014 of 11 July, regulating external academic internships for university students, as well as the specific ULPGC regulations on academic internships and the particular conditions of the internship applied for.
