A Real Challenge Posed by Cajasiete: Operational Marketing Students Present Their Proposals

FEET’s Department of Economics and Business Management focuses on learning connected to the professional world. Last Friday, May 16, the Operational Marketing Management students took their training experience to the next level by presenting their proposals to the Cajasiete Communications and Marketing team, comprised of the Director of Communications, Marketing, and Experience, Almudena Méndez Hernández; the Head of Marketing, Elena Guerra Castro; and the Head of Digital Community, Paula Bazo Perera. This session was the culmination of the challenge posed at the beginning of the course, on which the students have worked throughout this semester to develop creative proposals aimed at young audiences. The different groups’ presentations explained how they approached the challenge, from initial research and data analysis to the naming proposal and designing a communication plan tailored to market needs. The Cajasiete team provided valuable feedback to each group, highlighting their level of involvement, methodological rigor, and the creativity of the ideas presented. The winners of the two awards the institution offers will be announced shortly.

Furthermore, the financial institution has decided to award a runner-up prize to a third group due to the group’s high-performance level. The students highly valued this experience, which allowed them to apply their knowledge in a real-life context, gain a closer look at the world of marketing, and improve their communication, analytical, and teamwork skills. Activities like this bring students closer to the real business world challenges, strengthening their training and preparing them for their professional future.

The course’s teaching team, consisting of Arminda Almeida, Andrés Fernández, Aridany Rodríguez, and Nieves Rodríguez, sincerely thanks the Cajasiete team for their involvement, willingness, and generosity, as well as their commitment to developing young talent. Thank you for making it possible!

Master’s Degree in Marketing and International Trade (MUMCI) from the ULPGC: Attendance of Students and Faculty at Canarias Comunica 2025

On May 15, students from the Master’s Degree in Marketing and International Trade (MUMCI) from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) had the opportunity to attend the Canarias Comunica 2025 event, held at Infecar under the theme “Podcast & Community Power.”

During the event, our students were able to delve deeper into the power of podcasting as a key tool in digital communication and its ability to build communities and engage audiences.

They also attended the live recording of an episode of the Webpositer podcast. Luis Villanueva, CEO of the Webpositer group, interviewed Laia Grassi, an expert in generative artificial intelligence, highlighting how AI is transforming the current communication landscape. They also participated in a training workshop on SEO and the impact of AI on search engines, led by David Navarro, SEO Manager at Webpositer, where the latest trends and experiments redefining the sector in 2025 were analyzed. This experience allowed MUMCI students to learn about the latest innovations in digital communication, reinforcing their training in a professional environment and direct contact with industry leaders.

MUMCI Talk: Real Case Study – Mano de Santo

Students of the Master’s Degree in Marketing and International Trade (MUMCI) at the ULPGC had the opportunity to work on a real case study: Mano de Santo, the innovative beverage from Jesús Navarro, S.A. (Carmencita Especias).

They analyzed their current strategy and developed proposals to increase brand awareness, explore new sales channels, and rethink their distribution model. It was an enriching experience that brought them closer to the professional environment and added value to a brand with great potential.

Our students presented and defended their proposals to Juan Alberto García, Area Manager for the Canary Islands at Jesús Navarro, S.A., and to the course professor, Carlos Pérez Miranda, Key Account Manager for the Canary Islands at Bimbo Donuts Canarias—many thanks for bringing the real business world closer to the ULPGC.

The students congratulated our students for their excellent work and their commitment to the challenge.

The master’s coordinator thanks the Faculty of Economics, Business, and Tourism (FEET) for supporting this initiative.
