Internship Scholarships at AIReF

The ULPGC, at the initiative of FEET, has signed an agreement with the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) to allow our students to apply for scholarships to complete internships at this essential institution. With the contract now signed, two cohorts of students will be eligible for these internships: the first cohort during the 2025-2026 academic year and the next cohort during the 2026-2027 academic year.

AIReF is the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility, and its purpose is to ensure the sustainability of public finances, economic growth, and the well-being of Spanish society in the medium and long term. Its mission is to guarantee effective compliance by public administrations with the principle of budgetary stability outlined in Article 135 of the Constitution through the continuous evaluation of the budget cycle, public debt, and the analysis of economic forecasts. In 2021, the assessment of public expenditure was incorporated as one of its permanent functions to help develop more effective and efficient policies for the benefit of citizens. Participating in this program represents an exceptional opportunity for students, as they will be able to gain firsthand knowledge of and participate in achieving AIReF’s objectives, putting into practice the knowledge acquired during their undergraduate and/or master’s degree studies, as well as developing new skills in the performance of their professional duties.

Requirements:

a) Be in the final year of undergraduate, graduate, or engineering studies; or hold a bachelor’s or engineering degree within the last two years and continue to be enrolled in a training program at the university or academic institution, or be enrolled in an official master’s or doctoral program in economics or any other studies related to AIReF’s activities; or, having obtained a master’s or doctoral degree in the last three years, continue to be enrolled in a training program at the university or academic institution.

b) Not be subject to any of the conditions contemplated in Article 13.2 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Grants Law. These requirements must be met during the scholarship duration (i.e., the 2025-2026 academic year).

Scholarship Duration and Internship Location:

The scholarships will last twelve months and be offered in the format indicated in each scholarship profile. However, the current internship program at AIReF consists of three days of in-person training at its headquarters (Madrid) and two days of distance learning, subject to the service’s needs and current regulations. The program will begin in September 2025.

Visit of a delegation from the Cartagena University Institution.

Last Tuesday, April 29th, we had the honor of receiving a visit from Mr. Juan Alberto Arraut Camargo, Rector of the Cartagena University Institution, and Ms. Mayler Pamela Morales Guardo, Director of Academic Quality at the same institution, at the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism (FEET). After signing a framework collaboration agreement with the Rector of the ULPGC, which allows for collaboration in the academic and research fields, during their visit to FEET, they discussed with the Dean and Vice Dean of Tourism the possibilities of specific cooperation in the field of tourism, both at the academic level, through student and faculty exchanges between the two institutions, and the possible collaboration on a research project on the diagnosis of the future of the tourism sector in the city of Cartagena de Indias. We hope this is the beginning of a fruitful collaboration. We want to thank Eva Llorca Afonso, Director of the ULPGC International Campus, for her presence during the visit.

CRM as a Strategy for Customer Loyalty and Satisfaction

The Master’s Degree in Marketing and International Trade (MUMCI) at the ULPGC featured Octavio Urquía del Pino, a graduate of our university, to give the talk “CRM as a strategy to build customer loyalty and satisfaction.” Our students had the opportunity to discover how the strategic use of tools like CRM can transform customer relationships, improve their experience, and enhance loyalty in highly competitive environments. Thank you, Octavio, for returning home and generously sharing your knowledge and extensive experience in the application of CRM with the MUMCI students. It is an honor to have alumni like you. The master’s coordinator thanks the Faculty of Economics, Business, and Tourism (FEET) for supporting this initiative.

INFORMATION SESSION ON THE HIGHER BODY OF STATE COMMERCIAL TECHNICIANS AND ECONOMISTS (TCEE)

On Thursday, April 24, Gracia Pujadas, an official of the Superior Corps of Commercial and Economic Technicians of the State (TCEE), representing the TCEE Association, held an online information session. She explained the Corps of Commercial and Economic Technicians of the State and the competitive admission examination.

During the talk, it was emphasized that the Corps is a benchmark in national and international economic, commercial, and financial policy characterized by its political independence and dedication to public service.

The attractiveness of the career opportunities was highlighted, given the variety and richness of career paths in the administration, the possibilities for developing a professional career abroad, and the ease of work-life balance. The multiple national professional assignments were also highlighted, both within public entities attached to the Ministry of Economy and within different ministries and entities such as AIReF. The speaker mentioned the option available to students at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FAA) to apply for one of the scholarships awarded to them by this organization.

The career opportunities offered by the Corps of Commercial and Economic Technicians of the State are not well known among university students, so the talk given by the Faculty was a fascinating tool for raising awareness of these career opportunities.

The talk addressed the role of commercial technicians within the General State Administration, the professional opportunities offered by the Corps, and the competitive examination phase. The target audience for the talk was final-year students of Economics and Business Administration and those with double degrees in Law and Business Administration/Economics.

However, given that the entry requirements for this Corps of Technicians require a high level of proficiency in two foreign languages, raising awareness of possible career opportunities from the earliest stages of the university is key for potential applicants. For this reason, the information session was also distributed to first-year students. Those interested in more information can find details of the different channels through which they can access it in the images below.
The Faculty thanked Gracia Pujadas for her talk and her willingness to contact students for more information.
